HISTORY

The West Indies Cricket 2020 and Beyond was formed On January 24th 2020 by its current President Mr. Junior Codlin in association with many other individuals who love West Indies cricket and would like it to return to the levels of success it previously enjoyed from 1979-1995. The Group’s name was recently changed to the West Indies Cricket Development Academy (WICDA). The name change was made in adherence with the Group’s adopted Mandate of providing opportunities to aspiring young Caribbean cricketers.

VISION

West Indies Cricket Development Academy (WICDA) endeavors to send youth teams on overseas international tours annually. Selected touring teams will be comprised of Under16,17 and 19 cricketers from within the Caribbean region. Annually scheduled tours will allow such players to grow and play in conditions that they would not have had the opportunity to experience within the Caribbean or just help them to improve their game skills.

MISSION

To provide meaningful assistance to the further development and promotion of Caribbean cricket by assisting young players to reach their maximum potential towards eventual West Indies International team.

To assist young players from less fortunate areas through the provision of cricket gears and increased match playing opportunities.

To aspires & provide cricket interested and oriented young men and women from within the Caribbean with opportunities for their development of outstanding
international careers.

To assist West Indies cricket’s goal to regain its lost former greatness by playing its part in the further development of Caribbean young men and
women who have demonstrated an interest in the game.

Engage in the strategic use of mass communication and education that will train the young and old to understand how its operational principles relate to those spheres of human endeavor which play a dominant role in Caribbean society. While pursuing the ultimate achievement of its Mission, nothing should be done that can be deemed indicative of WICDA being biased and/or unfavorable.

Three words should characterize the execution of WICDA’s Mission.

First, “Innovation.” – WICDA’s objective will be to not to duplicate or copy the efforts of any other Academy.
Second, “Excellence.”  – WICDA’s work must either be of lasting value and of highest quality, or not be done at all.
Third, “Integrity.”  – In its activities, public relations, internal and external communications,

WICDA will at all times demonstrate tan abiding commitment to truth. Integrity must characterize all of WICDA’s interactions with others.

WICDA’s underlying belief is that activities which are implemented in accordance with its adopted principles will ultimately prove to be financially prosperous.

WICDA cannot, however, be of service to both cricket and money, so in all of its chosen Mission fulfillment activities the former will take precedence over the latter.

WICDA, nevertheless recognizes that only those activities which are economically viable can be continued within its current environment of Caribbean society, As such
economic viability will always be a major consideration of its activities planning.

WICDA also categorically states that the payment of accounts when due is a key ingredient of integrity. It will seek to finance its activities only by lawful and morally
correct means, including, but not limited to, contributions, sales, and investment income. In planning, it will endeavor to project adequate income for current activities, plus generous surpluses from which it can build and expand.

In fulfillment of WICDA’s Mission let us all collectively strive to always promote West Indies cricket and its betterment.
